Merex Group and ASB Avionics Sign International Distribution Agreement
Singapore Airshow – Merex, A Dubin Clark Company, has partnered with Mojave, California based ASB Avionics to provide international distribution for their C-130/P-3 legacy aftermarket modernization solutions for several key territories in Asia Pacific, Latin America and Oceania. ASB Avionics specializes in the design, manufacture and repair of complex aerospace systems and maintains an avionics repair, retrofit and modifications/upgrades facility serving both commercial and military markets.
This partnership focuses on offering cost effective solutions to address obsolescence issues inherent to the legacy C-130/L-382, KC-135, and P-3 platforms. These modernization solutions include the Integral (High Frequency) HF Shunt Antenna Programs and the Avionics Modernization Programs.
The Integral Dorsal High Frequency (HF) Shunt Antenna Modification Program for the C-130/L-382 and P-3 platforms replaces the existing long wire antennas in the HF system with a dorsal mounted shunt antenna. This installation kit includes new HF antenna coupler mounts inside the pressure vessel below the dorsal fin. In addition, this technology enhancement offers aircraft drag reduction, improved HF radio communication performance and reduced Life Cycle Costs (LCC).
The KC135/707 adds a dorsal HF shunt with the couplers inside the pressure vessel or inside the dorsal. The KC-135/707 Dorsal shunt adds reliability to the HF systems because it does not attract lightning like the existing probe mounted at top of the vertical stabilizer.
The Avionics Modernization Program for the C-130 and L-382 platforms enables the installation of a full suite of state of the art avionics components in the existing instrument panel space. A unique modular shelf installation allows for the engineering, fabrication and testing of many of the systems prior to the installation, resulting in reduced turn-around times.
Both of these upgrades for the C-130/L-382 are STC certified by the FAA. The avionics upgrade is also compliant with current Communications, Navigation and Surveillance / Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) mandates.
“We are excited to partner with ASB Avionics and to connect these product offerings to the international operator community. This agreement is in line with our commitment to continue to offer cost effective life extension solutions to our global military customer base. This life extension technology enhances our existing MRO and sustainment solutions for the global P-3, C-130 and KC-135 fleet,” offered Eric Hillewaert, Merex Group Director, Business Development and Distribution.
